COMMON AGRICULTURAL POLICY POST-2020: EVOLUTIONARY SCENARIOS AND THE EXPECTED IMPACT ON EU AGRICULTURAL SECTOR

Abstract:
This article analyses the impact of possible scenarios for the future CAP evolution in the post-2020 period for the EU agricultural sector, using the most recent analysis of European Commission (that highlights three such scenarios) and relevant indicators from DG Agriculture and Rural Development statistics. The objective of our research is to underline the advantages and disadvantages of the CAP scenarios regarding: agricultural production, product prices, trade in agricultural products, farm incomes, employment in rural areas and the environmental dimension. Finally, we will conclude on which of this scenarios is best suited for achieving sustainable economic growth in rural areas and for increasing food security at EU level.
