Abstract:
This article examines the current EU legal framework on state aid exempted from notification, through the GBER Regulation aiming to highlight how the Member States have managed to finance environmental protection and energy efficiency on its basis (according to the latest EU State Aid Scoreboard, published in May 2020). The research methodology is based on a comparative quantitative analysis of the schemes adopted by the Member States, but also on relevant case studies. The goal of our research is to underline the impact of GBER on the increase of the state aid for environmental protection both in the Member States and across the EU.
