George-Cornel Dumitrescu

Euroinfo, 2023, vol. 7, issue 3, 44-51

Abstract: Energy is the engine of economic activity and a source of the well-being of contemporary societies. On the other hand, as produced in the linear, classic economy, energy is also a significant generator of greenhouse gas emissions, which are said to be a driving factor of the visible climate changesin recent years. Therefore, the green transformation of the energy industry is a goal for all countries that want to halt the irreversible effects of pollution on the environment and life on this planet. This article highlights the leading players of the green transition in the energy sector, focusing on nuclear energy, which is considered currently green, while highlighting the position that the EU and its member countries occupy on a global level.
