Revista de Economie Mondiala / The Journal of Global Economics, 2017, vol. 9, issue 2, 67-76
Abstract:
This article tries to answer the question "Quo vadis EU?", based on the analysis of the five scenarios launched in the White Paper on the Future of Europe by the European Commission in March 2017. The research uses a multidisciplinary methodology which involves the empirical analysis of the economic phenomena together with the study of EU policies and documents, Eurostat data and the literature on this topic. The SWOT analysis is used to summarize the findings on the impact of “a much more union together” scenario. To this aim, the strengths, the weaknesses, the opportunities and the threats to the European Union as a whole and its Member States are identified. In the final part of the article, the author formulates its own opinion that favours a federal EU scenario.
