Abstract:
Community health workers (CHWs) play a pivotal role in India by reducing inequalities in health care facilities and by improving India’s stand on the global front (the 3rd Goal of the Sustainable Development Goals on good health and wellbeing). Existing literature indicates that receiving antenatal care from ASHA and AWWs helps improve access, utility and quality of the health care services and also helps improve key infant mortality outcomes in India (Nadella, 2021). Using the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-4 & 5) datasets, we shall observe the trends in health care services from 2015-16 to 2019-21, and shall focus particularly on the 1st phase from March 2020 to October 2020.
