Abstract: Working paper on innovations in agricultural mechanization and on agricultural equipment innovations and rural industry, industrialization in East Africa - discusses regional level demographic aspects and structural characteristics, innovations needed for rural development, adverse effects of economic policies on agricultural income and agricultural production, problems of research and development, rural-based industrial enterprise, employment and choice of technology, and includes case studies of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
