Abstract: Working paper testing hypotheses regarding the employment creation effects of rural area mode of transportation in the Philippines. Based on a 1981-1982 sample survey of the manufacture and use of simple passenger and goods transport vehicles, discusses factors limiting demand, obstacles to manufacture, operating costs, earnings, etc., and includes case studies and transport policy suggestions.
