Abstract: Working paper comparing economic and industrial growth in four newly industrializing countries, Brazil, Korea R, Mexico and Singapore, 1960-1980 - discusses industrialization policy, trade policy, public investment and credit policy; considers the role of entrepreneurs, public enterprises, private enterprises and foreign enterprises; outlines the benefits including employment creation, wage increases and income distribution.
