Abstract: Working paper on the impact of post-independence development policies and agricultural policies on rural women in Mozambique. Examines the political ideology regarding the economic and social roles of women, particularly in the agricultural sector. Explains women's traditional role in agricultural production, as well as their new role in communal villages, agricultural cooperatives and state farms. Discusses progress made in the abolition of regressive traditions. References.
