Abstract: Working paper, research report on a field study of technology transfer and self reliance in the manufacturing sector in Tanzania - based on a survey of 23 industrial enterprises, shows the need for coordinating and regulating mechanisms to reduce the import of technology packages, encourage enterprise level on the job training programmes, and involve local level experts in technological decision making.
