Re-integration of return migrants in Asia: a review and proposals

Farooq-i-Azam.

ILO Working Papers from International Labour Organization

Abstract: Return migration poses a serious challenge to policy makers. Return migrants are a source of concern in several ways. They put a strain on the labour market and they also represent a potential social problem as unfulfilled expectations and personal adjustment problems result in dissatisfaction and frustration. However, the return migrants also present a huge potential as they bring back home with them capital, skills, know-how and a potential source of industrial innovation that the home countries can ill afford to ignore.
