Employment planning within the context of economic reforms: a case study of Indonesia
Martin. Godfrey
ILO Working Papers from International Labour Organization
Abstract:
This paper examines the effectiveness of government attempts in Indonesia to deal with the employment dimensions of the economic reform programme introduced after the collapse in oil prices in the early 1980s. The paper comes to the conclusion that the reform programme has been in general "employment friendly" and has had a positive overall impact on employment growth especially as regards labour-intensive manufactured exports.
