ILO Working Papers from International Labour Organization
Abstract:
Examines characteristics of informal employment in Egypt and focuses on two dimensions of informality: micro and small enterprises and informal employment in formal sector enterprises (public and private). Finds significant gender differences between the formal and informal sectors, with women experiencing high unemployment and open discrimination in hiring in the formal economy.
