Seán Ó. Siochrú

ILO Working Papers from International Labour Organization

Abstract: Argues that globalization of the media sector affects, e.g., human needs and human rights in a similar way like globalization in other sectors. Highlights the particular role of the media sector as an enabler and as a powerful transformation agent of social, cultural and political structures. Proposes to aim for a more balanced power distribution between the global actors comprised of governments, the private sector, civil society, and multilateral systems (UN, WTO, G8, OECD).
