ILO Working Papers from International Labour Organization
Abstract:
Examines the situation in Bangladesh as a sending country of migrant workers to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and seeks to understand and compare the experiences of both regular and irregular migrants, and of women and men, using a variety of recruitment channels. Focuses the various recruitment mechanisms, processes and contractual arrangements experienced by migrant workers in different sectors, and their different outcomes, in terms of working conditions and workers' rights in the country of destination.
