Abstract: Case study prepared to analyse trends in regions with the highest concentration of tobacco employment in selected countries. Focuses on trends in tobacco production, consumption, and trade; the numbers of workers in the different sub-sectors, with emphasis on growing, processing and manufacturing; the different types of tobacco grown; work organization; demand and price fluctuations; price-setting and price support programmes; and grading and marketing. Analyzes working conditions and the nature of employment.
