Guyana: 2026 Article IV Consultation-Press Release and Staff Report
International Monetary Fund
No 2026/262, IMF Staff Country Reports from International Monetary Fund
Abstract:
Guyana’s economy continues to expand at a very rapid pace, among the highest in the world, supported by strong oil production, robust and broad-based non-oil growth, and sustained prudent macroeconomic policies. The authorities continue to use oil wealth to boost public investment and social spending in support of social development, diversification, and resilience while building savings in the Natural Resource Fund (NRF). Economic fundamentals remain strong, and available indicators do not point to clear signs of overheating or resource-driven competitiveness pressures so far, in part reflecting policy measures that help contain price pressures. Close monitoring and continued policy vigilance remain warranted.
