Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to identify the fundamentals of social security cost and sustainability. Using a theoretical framework it establishes comparisons giving emphasis on Brazilian position on the world scenario. This paper is divided into four chapters. The first presents the theoretical framework that supports the analysis. The second one is related to quantitative variables and the third chapter to the qualitative ones. The final chapter concludes the paper.
