Abstract:
In this work it was looked to identify and to explore the performance, and also the determinants, of the Brazilian Agriculture?s yield, with focus in the corn sector. The cereal is very important in the Brazilian agriculture production: it has several productions per year and it represents round 38% of cereals, leguminous, and oleaginous produced in Brazil. At first, the results indicate that the real corn prices are affected by supply shocks, i.e., productivity. Here, the impact of world imports (proxy of the world product) may not be forgotten, because its importance in the composition of the corn productivity. In the corn case, the real price and the domestic terms of exchange are affected by soybean domestic terms of exchange, what highlights a strong link between corn and soybean yields. About the relationship between corn and poultry markets, the impacts of corn sector on the poultry sector are significant, but the reciprocal is not clear.
