A Paraíba no Contexto Nacional Regional e Interno

Abstract: As possíveis heterogeneidades internas, na medida em que são feitos cruzamentos entre os dados populacionais, setoriais-produtivos e de emprego com as regionalizações geoadministrativas do estado. Os dados apresentados mostram uma Paraíba com taxa de crescimento do Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) anual superior às médias regional e nacional, porém com um Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano (IDH) ainda bastante inferior às mesmas esferas. Na área da educação, o estado mostrou avanços notáveis, em particular no ensino fundamental, cuja frequência escolar se aproxima dos 100%. No entanto, o nível de escolarização da população do estado ainda fica abaixo das médias nacional e regional. A dinâmica setorial favorece a prevalência dos serviços e da indústria,com a participação do emprego reafirmando a queda da parcela na agricultura. O exame dos fluxos comerciais interestadual e externo revela seu estado deficitário, concentrado em poucos produtos, em suas exportações, e com teor de maior valor agregado e diversificação em suas importações. Do ponto de vista interno, a população, a atividade produtiva e o emprego são fortemente concentrados em duas regiões geoadministrativas:João Pessoa e Campina Grande. Através do uso de quocientes locacionais, foi possível identificar tendências de especialização na indústria e no setor serviços em algumas das regiões geoadministrativas. A análise diferencial estrutural fornece subsídios adicionais sobre os componentes do crescimento das economias que compõem a Paraíba. Por fim, os dados sobre o mercado de trabalho dos municípios paraibanos revelam diferenças tanto na qualificação, como nas remunerações pagas. This paper aims to describe this process highlighting the recent economic changes and its relationship with regional and national economy. The demographic and productive structures demonstrate the possible internal heterogeneities, in terms of population, sector and production.The data show a rate of growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) higher than the average annual regional and national levels, but with a Human Development Index (HDI) is still considerably less than the same spheres. In education, the State has show remarkable progress, particularly in elementary school, whose attendance approaching 100%. However, the level of schooling the state’s population is still below the national and ergional averages. The sector dynamics are services and industry, with the share of employment arising and, on the other hand, showing the fall of the share in agriculture sector. The examination of intersate and foreign trade flows reveals is deficit, concentrated in a few products exported and higher value added and diversification in its imports.From the internal point of view, population, production activity and employment are highly concentrated in two (or three) regions, particularly João Pessoa (capital) and Campina Grande. Through the use of location quotients, it was possible to identify of specialization in industry and services sector and some internal regions. The gap analysis provides additional insight on the structural components of the growht of the Paraíba’s regions. Finally, data on the labor market of Paraíba municipalities reveal differences both in qualifying and salaries.Keywords: Paraíba, regional-sectoral analysis, differential-structural indicators.
