Abstract:
Child care industry has progressively became more important in recent years as a result of increase in participation of mothers having young children in labour market. As child care industry expands, public opinion pays attention to the factors such as quality, cost, usefulness . Therefore, the role of the state and family is important on providing child care (Blau ve Robins,1988: 374). With gradually increasing concern to child care, until now, there have been several studies about working mothers’ having young children care in the world. Some of these studies have been done by Heckman (1974), Connely (1992), Kimmel (1995), Powel (1997, 1998) and Averett, Peters and Waldman (1997). Some part of studies on child care literature has considered women decision on women labour supply and child care preference as United. Some of these studies are Blau and Robins (1988), Michalopoulos, Robins and Garfinkel (1992), Ribar (1992,1995), Kimmel (1995,1998), Clevend, Gunderson and Hyatt (1996). The aim of this study is, by using raw data of 1998 Turkish Population and Health Search survey of Hacattepe Institute of Population Studies, estimating the factors which affect child care preference of married working women having children being five years old and younger with multinomial logit model and making political interpretation.
