Changes in Indian Garment Industry Due To Dismantling Of Trade Quotas– An Empirical Study

Abstract: Textile industry is an important and emerging sector for both the global and Indian economy. India has many of the ingredients conducive to a thriving textile industry, which incidentally is one of the oldest organized industries in India. In a country of growing population like India, the textiles production both in terms of quality and quantity has to keep pace with the preferences and trends of consumers. On the supply side, the textile industry in India accounts for 20 percent of industrial production and is next to agriculture in providing employment. The paper examines the exports of garments after MFA.
