Abstract:
Foreign direct investment (FDI) has become the major economic driver of globalisation, accounting for over half of all cross border investments. In the new context of the recent world economic crisis and subsequent economic downturn, FDI followed the world economic trend. FDI activity depends on a wide range of factors and conditions, including location-specific determinants and home country characteristics. The paper puts into discussion the main trends of EU inward FDI flows, and the locational factors that influence FDI flows in the EU member states.
