Relación de Kuznets en América Latina. Explorando más allá de la media condicional

Abstract:
This paper studies the Kuznets relationship for a set of Latin American countries with the aim of characterizing the change in the evolution trend of the regional inequality indicators. Distributional changes are related with a lot of observable factors linked to development variables such as economic growth or human capital stock. However, there are many non-measurable inequality determinants like history or regional idiosyncrasies. The incorporation of conditional quantiles to the Kuznets relationship analysis can help to explain whether the unobservable factors can generate alternative paths for development and inequality.
