Abstract:
This paper analyzes institucional and incentives problems related to educational labor in the secondary education in Medellín (Colombia). A summary of the financial, regulatory and control structures in this sector is carried out. Moreover, we indentify and analyze the system of incentives that governs the educational labor market, emphasizing that there are problems of adverse selection and moral risk associates to the educational contracting and in the system of incentives (monetary and non monetary). Our paper also contrasts to the teachers of Medellín and their perceptions on the power of incentives that regulate them and impact their performance.
