Abstract:
Indonesia has an abundant source of woods, two thirds of its area is forest. The growth rate of the production ofpiywood during 1973-1984 was 61 % per annum. This very rapid growth rate was due to the increase of the number of factories and their capacities. However during this period the capacity utiiization of factories has once been decreasing during 1973-1979, reached the bottom at 34 % of capacity utiiization, then it went up again to 72 % in 1984 because of the restriction on logs exports. This paper depicts the Indonesian plywood industry and estimates its export in 1988
