Abstract:
Indonem exports it's LNG mainiy to Japan: so it is important to Indonesia to know how sensitive the price of LNG to the demand for LNG from Indonesia in Japan is. Due to Japan efforts to economize it's consumption it is necessary to explain whether Japan's demand for LNG increase with it's economic growth. To answer it the writer examines the income and price elasticity of the Japan's demand for LNG. The test covers both Japan's demand of LNG from Indonesia and from the worid. The writer shows that the effect of price change to the amount of Japan's LNG imports from Indonesia is smaller than that of the worid. This is due to the fact that Japan's LNG purchase from Indonesia is on a long term contract basis. The paper also reveals that Japan economic growth does not lead to increase its demand of LNG both from Indonesia and from the rest of the Worid.
