Abstract: Observation on energy problems, particularly those coneeming the supply and demand factors, are scanty. Such an observation is no exception in the Indonesian case. Observation on the problems incorporating spatial dimension are even fewer, if not nonexistent. The energy supply & demand in Indonesia, and the role of energy exports are discussed with a particular reference on their relation with the regional economic growth. In the demand side, the elements of interregional flows are emphasized. In the last part of the paper the author also discusses the issue of natural resource (i.e energy source) depletion. This important yet often neglected issue, as the author contends, should eventually become a consideration in the whole process of sutainabie development planning desired for the fulfilment of a long-term development objective.
