Nine villages with ricebase economy in rural West Jawa were selected as Analytical region, and 451 households in those villages were choosen as samples in 1985/86. The main Research conclusion is variables such as land holding size, the balita's (chiidren under five years of age) presence in thehousehold have positive effects on the amount of hosehold expenditures on prepared food; and education of housewife negatively affects this expenditures. Household live in villages with better irrigation facilities and more acsess to center of economic activities in the region spent more on prepared food.
