Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to show a simple method for estimating Cobb-Douglas production function based on cross-section data. The method is developed from a work by Hendrik Houthakker, which shows a unique relationship between production functions of individual firms atid of industry (or group of those firms). In addition to its simplicity, the advantage of this method is that the relationship between firms' production function and industry's production function is made obvious and explicit. In other words, it encompasses the aggregation problem often faced in econometric estimation.
