Abstract: This paper presents a theoretical framework on the dynamics of agriculture sector barter terms of trade in a growing economy.lt is shown that tlie declining trend of the agricultural terms of trend is a natural phenomenon in a growing economy, because the demand for agriculniral product is income inelastic. The income elasticity of the agricultural product generally decreases with real income witch further enforces the declining trend of agricultural terms of trade. Moreover, the declining trend of the agricultural terms of trade is also inhibited by government inter\entions which biased toward high agricultural production, low food prices and high non-agricultural development.
