Abstract:
Vie aim of this study is to compare the 4 econometrics methods (OLS, 2SLS, LIML and 3SLS) used to estimate parameters of supply and demand for rice in Indonesia. The study shows that 3SLS method fits better compare to the other 3 methods. Using 3SLS method, the author found that from supply side, the elasticity of price and area harvested are 1.0868 and 2.9532 respectively and from demand side, the price and income elasticities of demand are -0.2120 and 1.2241 respectively. These indicates that if price of rice increases by 2%, supply of rice will increase by 1.0868% and demand will decrease by 0.2120%. If area harvested increases by 1%, supply of rice will increase by 2.9532% and if income decreases by 1 %, demand of rice will decrease by 1.2241 %.
