Abstract:
The behaviour of female children, aged 7-15 year, neeeds further investigation particularly in dealing with predicting the number of desired children when they will enter the reproductive phase. Using the 1992 Susenas (Social Economic Survey) data set for Riau Province, we observe a neative association between the mother's education and the probability of female children not attending the formal school system. An increase in a grade of mother's education decrease the probability of female children, aged 7-15 years, not attending the formal school by about 0,035. The efect of mother's education is bigger for older age, 13-15 year, then for 7-12 year old children. The probability of female children which are not attending school is higher for those whats mother are working. This finding suggests to give much attention for female childre, who are not attending school, in order to meet the goals of family plannig programe in the future.
