Abstract: A tragedy of the commons is occuring in Danau Sentarum National Park because of inadequate institutional arrangements to manage the natural resource on sustainable way. In addition, there are overlapping property rights existing around Danau Sentarum national park. Furthermore, the state faces a conflict between conservation and development goals in managing the national park. Complexity of the legal framework has caused confusion in managing natural resources in Danau Sentarum national park. Co-management between state and community in managing the national park is needed to achieve efficient governance to maintain a sustainable environment in DSNP.
