Abstract: Deeply into the 21st century, within the framework of strong and continuous improvements in the «sustainable development» paradigm, under the common actions of states and international organizations (as UN), nature (environment) and Earth will receive a real, active, legal, internationally recognized personality. The paper explores some of these changes in the international law, that will become a genuine transnational law, regarding the legal protection of environment and of the planet Earth, as distinct subjects of global law, whose specific interests and rights will be represented and defended by Special High Lawyers and Representatives, at all juridical level (regional, national, international), in new types of institutions and organizations. A new, global law, based on consolidated normative frameworks, will develop in the 21st century, supporting the change of the civilizational pattern (from consumption and waste of resources to preservation, respect for and improvement of the environmental quality).
