The Policy Relevance of Institutional Economics: A Feminist Perspective
Janice Peterson
Journal of Economic Issues, 2025, vol. 59, issue 2, 342-360
Abstract:
This essay situates the policy relevance of institutional economics in Marc Tool’s description of economic policy as necessarily addressing the concerns of those for whom it is “the worst of times.” It then explores the contributions of feminism and radical institutionalism to expanding the range of policy issues to which institutional economics contributes insightful analysis. Particular attention is given to the influences of feminism and radial institutionalism on the author’s scholarship on public policy and women in the United States and feminist institutional economics.
