Abstract: Our reflection in this paper concerns the relationship between FDI, human capital and growth in emerging countries. These host countries multiply incentive policies to benefit from "spillovers effects". The objective of our work is to evaluate the foundations of this policy. However, direct investment alone can not explain the whole economic progression recorded in emerging countries. We ask if the human capital, combined to FDI, was not the cause of total factor productivity growth. We conclude that FDI plays a role of catalyst of growth in emerging countries. Nevertheless, it can play a positive effect on the growth of these countries only if these enhance their human capital stock. Our reflection has thereflore allowed us to determine a minimum of human capital for the FDI to have a positive impact on growth. A major feature of our work is that it has focused on a very large sample of more of 61 countries
