Abstract: 2020 ended with good news. After several difficult quarters, 4th quarter state exports increased by over 5 percent - to $7.85 billion - from a year earlier. The gains were concentrated in several recovering supply chain industries, notably cell phones (which gained over $200 million) and in products exported to China (such as cotton and medicaments). The medical industry was generally up for the quarter but net auto and auto part shipments were off by $100 million. Geographically, the large increases in exports to China and Hong Kong were not matched elsewhere. State exporters saw little change in exports to most of the world. Two exceptions were Japan and the U.K, both of which suffered large declines. Great Britain fell out of the list of the state's top ten markets for the first time ever.
