Calcio e televisione: un binomio complesso

Abstract:
This paper discusses the recent decision by the "Monopolies and Mergers Commission" (MMC) in the UK to block Manchester United's acquistion by BSkyB. It discusses the economic arguments behind the MMC's decision, and it analyses to what extent the decision might constitute important "case law" for other EU countries. An effort is made to distinguish the competition policy analysis of the case from the "emotional" aspects surrounding the investigation.
