Economia della Cultura, 2024, issue 4, 615-629
Abstract:
This article investigates the role of Italian Film Commissions nearly thirty years after their emergence. The first part reconstructs the historical context that led to their advent, intersecting the Italian political debate with the significant changes taking place in European cultural policy. The second part reflects on the actual outcomes of this process initiated at the end of the 1990s; what is the current role of film commissions in the national landscape? How does their action harmonize with that of the State? Particular attention is given to the theme of impacts, both economic and social and cultural.
