The audiovisual sector growth in Europe have not been stopped by the economic recession, but slowed down between 2007 and 2009. This article works out a very in deep analysis of the industry and market trends in the main audiovisual activities from cinema to home video, from pay-tv new to transactional services like video on demand. The only sector of audiovisual industry that shows in the period analyzed a decline is the home video. While the films box office, thanks to the 3D movies success and their tickets rise and the paytv subscriptions, had a good rate of growth. But the best result in terms of growth have been reached by transactional services like video on demand that are competing with the DVD market. However, the main emerging problem for the research in this field is due to the lack of public data collection concerning new media services on line at national level.
