Is Brussels a performing, competitive and attractive European metropolitan region?

Abstract: Using the broad concept of metropolitan region, including commuting areas, this article examines the position of Brussels vis-à-vis 35 other large EU cities, in particular eight high performers, namely Paris, Lyon, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Luxembourg, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki.
