Abstract: The aim of this article is to find the genesis of the connection between multifunctional agriculture and regional development and also the actuality of their interconnection. The multifunctionality of the agriculture is given by the branch’s role in production of the essential agricultural products for both individuals and the society, its significance in preserving the environment, diversification of the production, safeguarding of the cultural identity, of the landscape etc. All these quantity characteristics of the multifunctional agriculture determine not only its place in the economy of the rural areas, but also its considerable impact on the national economy.
