Abstract: The paper is intended to present and analyze the comparative price levels in the EU newcomer countries as illustration of the currency purchasing power. The lower comparative price level has been evaluated as some kind of natural comparative advantage of the less developed countries, a chance for the economic progress and hence, for the steady increase of the welfare and in the same time as a reliable guaranty for the employment in this group of states in Central and Eastern Europe.
