Abstract: This article, as the title itself shows, reviews the basic trends of the French foreign policy in the Mediterranean region during the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy. All national and European initiatives that have been undertaken by France aim to preserve its place and role on the international stage as a “power with a world influence”.
