Abstract:
General pay increases agreed in the first six months of the 2012 collective bargaining round range from 3% to more than 4%. The average duration of the new pay agreements is 17 months. This is well below the average duration of 23 months of the agreements concluded in 2011. Calculated on an annual basis, the average increase of wages based on collective agreements for 2012 will be around 2.7%, which is above the average increase of 2% in 2011. This will lead to noticeable real wage increases. In a number of industries the bargaining parties also agreed on provisions concerning temporary agency workers and job offers for apprentices upon completion of training.
