Abstract:
The current European Collective Bargaining Report of the WSI gives an overview of recent trends in collective bargaining in the European Union for the years 2011 and 2012. It analyses the development of collectively agreed and actual earnings against the background of the general economic framework conditions in Europe. Since the economic crisis in 2009 the overall pattern of wage developments in Europe has changed fundamentally. Most European countries have been faced with a continuous decline in real wages. There are clear signs for the emergence of European-wide downward competition on wages.
