Abstract:
The current European Collective Bargaining Report of the WSI gives an overview on recent trends in collective bargaining in the European Union in the years 2012 and 2013. It analyses the development of collectively agreed and effected wages against the background of the general economic framework conditions in Europe. Since the economic crisis in 2009 the overall pattern of wage developments in Europe has changed fundamentally. Most European countries have been faced by a continuous decline in real wages. In a period of strong austerity policies, weak wage developments further contribute to the drop in economic demand and economic stagnation in Europe.
