Altersgemäß Lernen: Die Rolle von Lernfitnesstrainings

Christian Stamov-Roßnagel and Klaus-W. West

WSI-Mitteilungen, 2014, vol. 67, issue 6, 486-490

Abstract: In the framework of lifelong learning, a key question addressed by Jacobs University, Bremen, in a project carried out in cooperation with the Chemical Foundation Social Partners Academy (CSSA) in Wiesbaden on “age differentiated promotion of competency” was how a learning environment can be established that promotes learning. The aim of the project being to discover ways to promote the learning competencies of those employees who do not belong to the group of intrinsically motivated learners. This group is mainly the older employees who are no longer used to learning. The article presents the results and experiences of a programme of training aimed at improving learning fitness – designed and developed specifically for this age group and empirically tested. Results show that the achieved levels of improvement in the attitude to learning are not short-lived temporary reactions but rather they indicate longer-term improvements. The training programme is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
