Die Glaubwürdigkeit von Leistungsberichten aus Sicht der Bürger – eine erweiterte experimentelle Replikationsstudie

Abstract: Based on an extended replication study, the present article aims at comparing the information credibility of performance reports as well as exploring different factors that explain the latter from a citizen perspective. The results show significant differences in the perceived credibility of performance information, particularly when comparing private and public reporting sources. A more differentiated analysis shows that these differences can be attributed to the direct comparison of the included political (mayor’s office) and independent (independent institute) reporting source. Overall, citizens grant performance reports published by independent institutes the most credibility, especially when the latter are perceived as competent.
